I gathered myself and went on the terrace and replied yes to Prakash’s message.
Within few seconds my phone rang “Prakash calling…”
I picked up the call without giving further thought. “Hi” he said, to that I replied “hey, how are you?”
He asked, “Did you sleep early yesterday”.
I wanted to answer no I could not sleep yesterday, and you are the reason, but I replied, “yeah was tired.”
Prakash: “Hey, I know the Roka date that our parents decided is too near. If you want to postpone it, I am fine. I know how it feels when the decision of your life is taken by others.”
That sentence made me feel relaxed.
Me: “Yeah, do you want to postpone it? If so, why? do you like someone else or do you have any secrets?”
Lol I was asking these questions to see if there is any chance of postponing or breaking this so-called arranged marriage set up.
Prakash:” Wowo !!! easy tiger. No, I am good with the date, I thought to ask you if you are also ok with this date.”
I wanted to say no, but then Prakash’s gesture made me change my weird feeling a tad.
Me:” Thanks for asking. Roka is not marriage it will be a good chance to know you.” Prakash: “Sure, same applies to you except I am sure we will make a great team.”
The more I was talking with him the more comfortable and confident I was becoming about him, and this arrange marriage thing.
Prakash: “Hey, do you mind if I ask you out tomorrow for a cup of coffee, I promise this will not be like a date rather think of me as a colleague and we are going out after doing an on-time client delivery.”
His words made me so comfortable that I forgot about that weird feeling.
Me: “Sure, I will text you the address but your treat.”
Prakash: “Smart!!! Alright”
Me: “Cool! So, see you tomorrow in that case, good night.”
Prakash: “Goodnight!”
I came downstairs. Mom: “Was it Prakash?” Me: “Yeah!”
Mom and Dad: (with a smile) “Good to see you happy.”
I was not happy until yesterday but now I am not unhappy either. Me: “Good Night, Maa!! Good night Paa!! Btw I will go on a coffee date with Prakash tomorrow after work.”
Mom and Dad: “Cool, Enjoy.”
As much as I know that is not the case what I said, but it would be difficult to make them understand.
