I was sitting in the garden, when a voice came from behind, (it was my dad’s voice) “It is nice to see the bird’s fly free, yet they come back to the same place every day.” I did not understand at first what he meant by that. (Of course, I understood the straight meaning of the sentence but not the hidden message behind it.)
I said, yes!
Dad, “Eva, sorry for being rude and not understanding you earlier, I was so stubborn with my thoughts that, I could not see and feel your struggle. I am sorry for not being there when you were struggling to share your thoughts. I am sorry for doubting your aim and your decision.”
Me, “No, dad, I am sorry. I should have given you some hints before. Sorry for not sharing with you my decisions before.”
Dad, “No, Eva I have been so busy lately that I did not notice the pain you were going through, the life you were aspiring to live. I am glad that I did not teach you ever that, money is the biggest thing in the world. I was so busy that I forgot my days of struggle, forgot that you can also follow the same path and I am grateful to god that you are not one of the rich narcissistic kid.
You know through you I will live my college days again, moreover you will be in India, I could met you anytime I want in like 2hours.”
I had tear in my eyes, those were the tears of happiness, love and care.
Me, “You know dad, I am the luckiest girl in this world, to be blessed with parents like you. Thanks for everything dad.”
Dad, “Umm, well yes you are lucky, hahahhahaha………….”
We both came inside from garden, called mom, Justin and Karen.
After they came, dad said all of us will have lunch together, and the menu will be all the favourite dishes of me, as I will soon start my college and follow my dreams.
Trust me that was probably the most memorable day of my life.
I gave my finals a few days from then, cleared all the entrance exam.
I completed my postgraduation from IISc Bangalore, then my PhD.
I am a successful scientist at BARS now.
My family is so proud of me, I have built my own empire but I make sure I give time to my boy, Btw I am married to my best friend whom I met during my college days.
Well guys that is my journey till now, isn’t it beautiful?
